I finished 4th today at the US Cup 2013 season’s opening race. It was a tough one. I had not pre-ridden the course earlier, I was discovering it on the first lap. It’s a long course, 8.9 miles, so we did only 2 laps. My total race time was 1:26:48. It was hot and extra dry with a lot of dust. But the gods of mountain biking blessed us with a few clouds and even a few rain drops on the final lap. The new bike felt great, stiff and fast rolling. I think a 29er carbon hard-tail is really a great setup for this type of course.
