We went to Vortex Racing to try their gear. They have just opened their doors on the Montreal island and they have 8 Cruden motion-based simulators in their scrupulously tidy facility. These are the same training simulator used by Formula One teams such as Red Bull Racing and can deliver up to 2.5 Gs of force. The track we sampled was Circuit Park Zandvoort from the Netherlands. We spent a total of 11 minutes on track (6min qual and 5min race). I was on the ‘pro’ mode with no assists and it was crazy fun. The forces were strong, I was so tumbled in the cockpit I could barely hold my line. Gotta tighten-up those belts a lot more next time!

They say the acoustics of Montreal’s Bell Center are outstanding for such a large amphitheater (the largest NHL arena in North America). Last night we had a great demonstration as The National played their last song ‘unmiked’. At first the ambient noise of the crowd was enough to burry the music. But then, after a few ‘shhhh’, the crowd started listening carefully and we were blown away by the clarity of the sound. This video was recorded from the opposite far end section (section 120), with a consumer-grade point-and-shoot Canon camera. You know what, I visit the Bell Center more often than I visit my family, but this was the first time it struck me that much how incredible the sound can be in that building.

It was the Quebec Cup race #5 at Mont-Sainte-Anne last Saturday June 18th. We laid down some ‘rubber’ on the track for the World Cup bros racing there next week. Hope it’ll be a bit more grippy for them.

I’m all super stoked about my result. Was trying hard all season to ‘pierce’ the top10 so 5th felt like a win. Not sure if it’s because some of the ‘top guns’ weren’t there (via father’s day duty). It’s a little different racing with the #cooldads compared with the #20something to be honest. These guys are ‘next level’ pros.

Anyways, it’s been an incredible racing week-end. Huge props to the organization & the volunteer bros of the Velirum festival/event thing. They really put their heart into it and it shows as we always get the ‘world-class’ treatment there. I love LOVE LOVE Mont-Sainte-Anne!
